I, Todd Parfitt, Deputy Director, Department of Environmental Quality, certify that
Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Site Number 122448 (Pahcoon and Tailings) located in the
N 1/2 Section 10, S 1 /2 SE 1 Section 3, and SW 1 Section 11, Township 21 North, Range 120
West, in Lincoln County, Wyoming has been reclaimed in accordance with the objectives of the
Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Program, which is operated in accordance with Wyoming
Statute 35- 11- 1207(a).
The reclamation included capping and recontouring of a phosphate mine tailings pond
area and revegetation to stabilize the soils. The area is stable and the physical hazards have been
addressed. There is good vegetation cover, although there are some weed species present at the
time of this certification. It should be noted that at this site, reclamation of the Tailings Pond
included a rock layer to serve as a capillary barrier for plant uptake of selenium. It is
recommended that this tailings pond area should not be used for any livestock grazing or
development of any kind (see attached map on Page 2).
The Abandoned Mine Land Division is no longer responsible for any features associated
with this site.
The complete file pertaining to this site is located in the office of the Wyoming
Department of Environmental Quality- Abandoned Mine Land Division, at 122 West 25 Street,
Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002.
This certification terminates all consents granted by the landowner, to enter upon the site
and conduct the reclamation work.
